Toddler Summary – catching up

Daphne Jane. She is all about the fun and soaking up life. She is also not concerned about her personal safety. She always has some sort of injury--usually to her face from some stumble/spill/trip. She either cries not at all or cries for a minute and moves on.

Eating
Things seem normal – or at least ‘our normal’. Daphne loves to eat – from the daily reports we get from daycare, you would think that we don’t feed the poor girl. I mean, how does one toddler eat six (yes, that is 6) helpings of meatloaf for lunch (plus breakfast, side dish at lunch and an afternoon snack)!?  And her veggies….she loooooves her veggies.

She also likes to shove a ton of food into her mouth – basically her whole hand and whatever the contents. Wonder how many two year olds do that...

Playing
Daphne enjoys playing with her friends; she is most excited to see Fiona – our next door neighbor’s little girl. It is cute/funny to see them first notice that each other is outside, they scream each other’s name and run toward each other for a huge hug!

She is definitely at outdoorsy kid – from the time her eyes open in the morning to after she brushes her teeth before bedtime, she is asking to go outside.

Sleep
Over the past few months, getting a full night’s sleep for us as parents didn’t exist. We chalked it up to a number of things: growth spurt, teething, change of rooms/teachers at daycare, teething, potty training…you name it. “They” say that by the time of your child’s second birthday, parents have lost the equivalent of 6 months of sleep!

Daphne is slowly coming around to sleeping through the entire night – meaning, through the night as we normally sleep. She’s always been a fantastic sleeper, so no complaints really.

Learning
Seems to us like Daphne is learning super-fast. It is as if she sees/hears something once and she’s got it down pat. She is very aware and picks up on the smallest of things that you wouldn’t think of.

She loves to sing at the loudest voice possible and dance/jump/spin at the same time. She enjoys coloring and having little tea parties.  She especially likes listening to her nursery rhymes that are on the iPad and iPhone.

Enjoy the photos!

  1. Just love all the pictures. And the updates regarding her daily activities.
Can't wait to see her and Daddy and Mommy on our trip back home from
Florida later in March. Maybe Daphne and Grandpa can sing a few songs
    together when we visit.
