Daphne - Six Months Old

Half way to the big 1 year! That’s kind of a big deal.  How time does fly.

It has been the most rewarding half-year of our lives, watching our daughter as she takes those tiny steps towards becoming a big girl. And as she does, she teaches us the importance of slowing down, being patient, and soaking in the fleeting pleasures of life. Having started out dependent on us for just about everything, she is now so interactive and curious about exploring new things on her own. And boy, does she have a sense of humor!

Seeing her personality develop has been nothing short of a miracle. Words can’t describe how this little girl has completed our soul. The best part is that these past 6 months are just the introduction, a sneak peek if you will, of the rest of our Daphne-filled lives. How fortunate we are!

Weight:
Five Months:  11lbs, 10ozs.
Six Months:  12lbs, 15ozs.  (this weight makes her officially on the charts, in the 4th percentile)

Height:
Four Months: 22 5/8 inches (last official measurement)
Six Months:  25 inches  (she's in the 16th percentile -- and, wow, over 2 feet tall already!)

Diaper Size:
Size 2 in disposable (sposies) and size small in her cloth diapers FuzziBunz Perfect Fit - she'll be ready in a couple of weeks to move up to size medium in those; unless she is wearing the FuzziBunz One Size, then we just adjust the snaps according to her weight/height.

Clothing Size:
Daphne is wearing mostly 6 months size; unless it is Gerber - then it is more like 9 months size.

Hair Color:
Five Months:  it has definitely thinned out on the sides, but it is still brown; there is actually enough hair on the top for a barrette to stay clipped in. But only if Daphne will allow it; she's just now starting to wear some headbands and not be 100% annoyed with them.
Six Months: Daphne's hair has definitely thinned, but we're hoping that means when it does come in it will be nice and thick.

Eye color:
Five Months: yep, still blue
Six Months:  blue

Here a few things Daphne has been up to lately:
Rolling and rolling. She tries to crawl, but only manages to scoot a little .  She does like to sit up, but cannot do so on her own for more than 10 seconds (roughly). It is sort of funny, like she forgets she has arms and just ends up falling over on her side.

She throws her arm up and down.  We call this the ‘Pizza Pie’ move - as it looks like she is throwing dough in the air with both arms.

Daphne is eating like a champ! Besides bottles, we’ve started introducing her to some pureed foods.  She really seems to like them, as long as she can get past the first spoonful.

Daphne's pediatrician noticed some teeth starting to 'bud' under the surface - which means they could come thru any day or they could take months to show up.

The amount of smiles and laughter that come out of this girl is unreal. She really is such a happy baby. Of course, we have our share of the grumps too, but those are really few and far between.

Daphne loves her bathy time so much!  She loves watching the water come out of the spout and fill up the cup to the point of overflowing; she loves playing in the water that streams out of the cup when we make a waterfall.  She loves getting us wet with her splashes.
