Daphne - 1 Santa - 0

Yes, it is that happy, jolly, time of year. Daphne doesn’t really get the whole Christmas ‘thing’ yet, let alone know who Santa is, but that doesn’t stop her from saying (her word for) Santa and getting all excited for the lights on the tree and the blow-up snowmen around the neighborhood.Daphne currently loves to sit by the edge of the tree skirt and stare at the Christmas tree lights (we put on colored lights); she tells us the colors of each one and then before leaving the room, stands up, and tries to hug the tree – with her arms stretched out wide letting out a verbal aaawww.  (seriously, how adorable is this kid!?)

She’s entertained with the lights on the tree so much that we decided not to decorate it with much else – a few candy canes and the hand-made ornaments that she made from daycare.

This was a fantastic opportunity for everyone! Why, you ask:
1.   Mommy and daddy don’t have to keep constant eye out for the ever-fateful breaking of the ornaments.
2.   Daphne doesn’t have to hear ‘NO’ every time she reaches out to touch the tree.

The other day, we decided it was time for Daphne to meet Santa (because we had amazing luck last year!), so we went to a local mall that goes all out and has a great Santa.

Daphne enjoyed standing in line – because there were tons of distractions; other kids, fake presents, and extra-large ornaments to 'play' with. When it was time for her to sit on the jolly fat man’s lap, she ran up the side of Rachel and latched on like a monkey and would. not. let. go!

As you can tell by the photos, she had a great time playing in the winter scenery that was surrounding Santa's Workshop.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Joyous New Year!
